PRP is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole blood, which is then then centrifuged to separate out the platelets from the red blood cells.

 

Following specific protocols for preparation, this plasma has 3-5 times greater concentration of growth factors, and has been used to encourage cell and tissue regeneration in multiple specialties such as dentistry, orthopedics and dermatology.

As concentrated source plasma, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that can stimulate healing of soft tissue and joints. Some of the main indications in dermatology for PRP are androgenic alopecia, wound healing, and skin and tissue rejuvenation.
